Weekends at the cottage, backyard barbecues and celebrating the great outdoors with friends and family. Stop by for a taste of summer Mariposa Market style including ooey gooey Chelseas, Muskoka Berry Tarts, fresh Strawberry Tarts and of course our signature humungous Cinnamon Buns.

And there’s so much going on in Downtown Orillia starting with the huge Sidewalk Sale on Friday May 25th and Saturday May 26th. On Sunday June 24th Orillia celebrates Sir Sam Steele with parades, concerts and even a gala reception. The thrilling Snowbirds air show comes to Downtown Orillia on Saturday June 30th followed by a Canada Day spectacular down at the park highlighted by the enormous Mariposa Market flag cake that serves 3000. And don’t worry-we’re open 7 days a week all summer long, including Victoria Day Monday and Canada Day.

We’re definitely heading into ‘Hot Cross Bun Season’ with Easter (and Spring of course!) just weeks away now. But don’t forget St. Pats Day…Saturday March 17th comes first. Aaron will be doing his traditional Irish Soda Bread and Katie & El have created all sorts of St. Patrick’s Day cakes and cupcakes. Then it’s on to Easter with Easter Bunny Loaves, hand-dipped chocolate Easter Chick sugar cookies and a whole bunch of treats filled with everything from decadent fudge to gooey caramel. We’re open all Easter weekend including Good Friday and Easter Sunday so please drop by. Then a really really big event is on tap for Sunday April 22nd…our 25th Anniversary Party. Stop in for free cake, free coffee, fancy pastries, live entertainment and draws.

Paczki Day Is Tuesday February 21st!

That’s right…the official Paczki Day in Canada is coming up fast…Tuesday 21st this year!

Paczki Day falls on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent begins and in kitchens all across Poland it’s time to enjoy one last special treat before the fasting
begins.

And the treat of choice in Poland is the revered Paczki (pronounced poonch-key)…the Cadillac of jelly donuts made with a richer sweeter dough and stuffed full to a perfect plumpness with a tart raspberry filling.

We’re doing Paczkis every day leading up to the
official Paczki Day but do make sure you stop in on the 21st to pick up a pack or two of these traditional Polish pastries to take to the office or home to enjoy with tea after dinner!

And you’ll find them up early making your family’s favourites: buttery shortbreads, warm sugar cookies, spiced apple rum cakes and chocolaty Yule log cakes. We invite you to come experience the sights, tastes and sounds of an old fashioned Christmas. The store’s all decked out for the Yuletide season and there’s so much Christmas baking we can hardly fit it in the showcases! And we’re open early too-7 am every weekday morning so you can get a jump on your Christmas shopping or send the kids off to school with treats for the class. And if you’re having a get together at the office or at home with family just give us a call…we can always give you a hand with sandwich platters, cheese & veggie trays and of course dessert!

Handmade gingerbread houses, chewy fudge dipped macaroon cookies and buttery shortbreads…the Mariposa Market at Christmas is not to be missed. The Yuletide season kicks of on Friday November 18th with Downtown Orillia’s Children’s Candlelight Parade, followed on Sunday November 20th with Orillia’s annual Santa Claus Parade. Our Customer Christmas Party is on Sunday November 27th highlighted by the 180 foot Yule Log cake, free coffee and cocoa, pictures with St.Nick and live Christmas music with guitarist Peter Wainwright. We invite you to come taste the magic of Christmas past as we celebrate this wonderful season of family, friendship and sharing.

New Harvest Autumn Menu

Come celebrate the harvest at the Mariposa Market with our new autumn menu. Pumpkin Pies made with dairy cream, Apple Cranberry Loaves, Pumpkin Raisin Bread, Cranberry Walnut Bread and Pumpkin Spice Scones smothered with cream cheese icing. Don’t forget to pick up a Pumpkin Spice latte from our cappuccino bar to go with your Pumpkin Hermit cookies! And we’re open all Thanksgiving Weekend including Thanksgiving Sunday and the holiday Monday from 8 am till 5 pm so drop by for our famous Parkerhouse Rolls.

The Tastes of Summer

It’s time for the tastes of summer at the Mariposa Market and we’re staying open later so please drop by and spend a while cooling down after a day at the beach. The store is open from 7 am till 8 pm weeknights and of course all weekend long even on the holidays. Stop in for cool Strawberry Tartes, perhaps a Strawberry Banana Smoothie or a scoop of Marty’s Famous Butter Tart ice cream. Texas Donuts, Caramel Apple Pecan Chelseas, Cinnamon Buns, Blueberry Crumble Pies…it’s cottage time!

It’s Christmas time in the stores! And the bakery sure is busy…buttery shortbreads, decadent Yule Log cakes, charming Gingerbread Houses…the list goes on and on! This years’ fruitcake is simply spectacular and any day now our Plum Puddings will hit the shelf. Over in the Scent Shop and Seasons Shop there’s a brand new sale every day and we’re open early to help you get a jump start on crossing those names of your Christmas shopping list. And when you need a break from the rush you can just sit back and get cozy in the café with one of Carrie’s Peppermint Mochas from our new Cappuccino Bar. Starting Monday December 20th we’ll be staying open till 8 pm so please drop by and experience an old fashioned Christmas.
